What is Fasenra (Benralizumab)?
Benralizumab binds the IL-5 receptor on eosinophils and lowers the number of these inflammatory cells in the blood and airways.
It is an add-on maintenance treatment. It does not relieve a sudden asthma attack, so patients keep their rescue inhaler.
Dosing schedule and eligibility (blood eosinophil count, exacerbation history) are decided by the treating respiratory specialist.
