Akynzeo capsule contains the active ingredients Netupitant and palonosetron. It is an antiemetic drug belonging to the class of 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. It is used to prevent and treat nausea, vomiting, or sickness caused by cancer treatments such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy or after surgery. Nausea is characterized by stomach pain and the urge to vomit.

The common side effects that are likely to occur with Akynzeo 300mg/0.5mg Capsule are hives, swollen face, breathing trouble, and chest pain. Inform your healthcare provider if these side effects concern you or persist for longer than usual. It is given right away or later with anticancer medicines. It is usually given up to 24 hours while recovering from anesthesia after surgery. 

Talk to your physician if you have a history of repeated constipation, blockage in the bowel, heart problems, or imbalance of certain minerals in your blood (such as magnesium and potassium). This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to this drug. Tell your physician about all the medications you have been taking recently, including herbal medicines and supplements, before taking the Akynzeo capsule.

Postoperative nausea and vomiting.

It is a type of serotonin receptor antagonist, which works by blocking the action of serotonin in the body that induces nausea and vomiting. The medicine will be prescribed to you by a healthcare professional in a hospital setting. Akynzeo capsule is usually given about 30 minutes before you receive your anti-cancer medicine (chemotherapy) or right before anesthesia for surgery. If you are taking Akynzeo hard capsules, they should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider.
