Caplacizumab 10 mg injection contains the active ingredient Caplacizumab, a humanized single-variable-domain immunoglobulin (nanobody) used for the treatment of acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (aTTP).

aTTP is a rare and life-threatening blood disorder characterized by the formation of small blood clots (thrombi) in small blood vessels throughout the body, leading to low platelet counts, hemolytic anemia, and potential organ damage.

Caplacizumab works by targeting the von Willebrand factor (vWF) and inhibiting its interaction with platelets, thereby reducing abnormal clot formation and preventing further complications.

Caplacizumab is indicated for the treatment of the following:

• Acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (aTTP)
• In combination with plasma exchange and immunosuppressive therapy

This therapy helps reduce the risk of thrombotic events and speeds up platelet count normalization.

Caplacizumab acts as an anti-von Willebrand factor (vWF) agent.

It works by:

• Binding to vWF and inhibiting platelet adhesion
• Preventing formation of microvascular thrombi
• Reducing organ damage caused by restricted blood flow
• Accelerating recovery of platelet count

Clinical studies have shown that Caplacizumab significantly reduces time to platelet normalization and recurrence of aTTP episodes.

Administered as a subcutaneous injection

The initial dose is given intravenously prior to plasma exchange

Followed by daily subcutaneous injections during and after plasma exchange as prescribed
